Biodynamic Studies of Physical Education and Sport
Study of the Physical Education and Sport through the perspectives of biophysics, biology and biochemistry.
Lines of research:
- Biomechanics of the Human Movement
Description and analysis of external and internal biomechanical parameters in human motion, at different ages, physical condition levels and health states. Biomechanical factors that influence and determine the mechanical overload in human movement. Interpretation of the sports movements, technical diagnosis of the performance and further determining functions of the movement efficiency. Identification and analysis of the internal and external biomechanical parameters that affect the efficiency and the overload in strength training. Study of the technological dependency on the foot-shoe-floor system. Development and application of biomechanical tools to the complex analysis of the human movement. - Acute and Chronic Effects of the exercise in the cardiovascular system
The goal is to study the acute and chronic effects of different types of physical exercise in the cardiovascular function and regulation in experimental models and healthy human beings or individuals who have different sorts diseases. - Nutrition, physical activity and genetics in sports and in health
In vitro, experimental and clinical studies aimed at broadening the comprehensive understanding of the mechanistic and integrative roles of nutrition, physical activity and genetics on health, the quality of life and sports physical performance in different maturation stages. - Sportive performance
Study of the factors that interfere in the sportive performance and its interrelations with the acquisition, maintenance and loss of the sportive fitness.
Sociocultural and Behavioral Studies in Physical Education and Sport
Study of the Physical Education and Sport from the behavioral and sociocultural perspectives.
Lines of research:
- Motor response organization and motor abilities acquisition
Study of the motor abilities acquisition through life, the factors that interfere on such process and the mechanisms and underlying processes to the preparation and execution of the motor responses. - Motor development analysis and diagnosis
Research of the acquisition of fundamentals patterns of movement and their combinations in normal and disabled children and the factors that affect this process, concerning the task and the environment; tool development for diagnosis of the development state of individuals and groups throughout their lives. - Sociocultural Studies of the human movement
Investigate the motor activity phenomenon, its cultural construction, its meaning and transformation of its practice throughout different times and manifestations. - Psychosocial aspects of the sport
Study of the personality, motivation, intelligence, emotional states and sociological variables and how those factors affect and are affected by the sportive activity. - Management, Politics, Marketing and Communication in Sport and Physical Education
Study of the fundamentals of management, communication and sports marketing aiming to develop knowledge on the processes of practical, production and promotional segments, as well as in relation to the sports manager, including the collection, analysis and objective and subjective interpretation of the data on some characteristics (individual, in group, ideological, demographical, models, theories, among others) in order to obtain new knowledge or to add to the basis of existent knowledge in the field of managing organizations, projects and programs. - Development of programs in physical education
Study of the fundaments and concepts related to professional preparation and elaboration, implementation and evaluation of physical education programs for individuals and groups of different ages and contexts, aiming the development of the health, education and leisure.
