Bachelor Degree in Physical Education
Purpose: To graduate a Professional capable of meeting the social needs related to health, education, sport, culture and leisure. More specifically, a professional who is able to:
a) plan, manage, implement, develop and evaluate physical education and sport programs for the general population and for individuals with specific needs;
b) issue reports, giving advice and consultancy that guide individuals or organized groups on subjects relevant to physical exercise;
c) seek continuous academic and professional improvement throughout their professional career.
Program: Undergraduates will receive the required knowledge in order to plan, implement, develop, manage and evaluate Physical Education programs aimed to populations of different ages and needs. Furthermore, they shall experience direct contact with future clients and will be able to issue advices, offer assistances and consultancies in questions concerning physical activity and its relations with health and society, acting individually or in a multidisciplinary team. The students will be able to experience direct contact with the public with which they will work.
According to the student's profile and interest, he/she must choose between an emphasis on Human Development or Training and Management in Sport. With different disciplines, these two emphases seek to bring flexibilty to the academic curricullum.
Students’ profile: Students who enter the Bachelor in Physical Education course have areas of interest concerning the study of physical activity phenomena in different segments of society. They will be encouraged to analyze psychological, philosophical, historical, biological, social and physical aspects of the human movement. It is of main importance that they seek bibliographic update, make contact with professionals of the area and sports teams, join scientific initiation projects and internships, attend events and further activities which will result in academic and professional experience evolving critical and participative sense.
Places to work: Gyms, clubs, schools, crèches, community centers, governmental organs, research centers, asylums, hospitals, health centers, aesthetic centers, hotels, recreation and leisure centers, consultancy agencies, industries, marketing companies, research institute, among others, except on the school context.

Teaching Degree in Physical Education
Purpose: To qualify physical education professionals to act in schools.
Program: Students will receive, in addition to basic content of the area, knowledge on Pedagogy focusing on the comprehension of formal education and of the physical education relevance as curricular discipline. They will be prepared to act in the creation, planning, implementation, development, management and evaluation of physical education contents from primary to secondary education.
Students’ profile: Have their main areas of interest aimed to the comprehension of the processes involved in learning, human development and in quality of life. Graduates must be capable to understand the importance of the physical education in socialization and in learning and teaching process. They will be encouraged to analyze the human movement focusing on the psychological, philosophical, historical, biological, social and physical aspects. They must seek constant bibliographic update, contacts with professionals of the area, scientific initiation, internships and events, in order to develop critical and participative sense.
Places to work: The licentiate in Physical Education may act in locals where schooling is developed, whether it is in municipal, state of private sphere.
